Convert FITS to JPG — auto-stretched, browser-only

Convert FITS astronomy images to JPEG. Same auto-stretch as our PNG converter, but smaller files for quick sharing on chat / forums. Prefer PNG if you plan to do any further editing — JPEG throws away detail in low-contrast regions where faint deep-sky structures live.

How it works

  1. Drop a .fits file (or any image) onto the page.
  2. The JPG output preset is already selected — hit Convert Now.
  3. Download the result. The whole conversion ran in your browser via WebCodecs or FFmpeg.wasm. No file left your device.

Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No. poqpoq is a static site — the page you're looking at is a bunch of JavaScript your browser downloaded once. It runs entirely on your device. There is no upload endpoint. When you open your browser's Network tab during a conversion, you'll see zero requests going out.
